I prefer to call them "Laplets" ie. Laptops + Tablets = Laplets. They are multifunctional and can can fit in both the laptop and  tablet category. They will soon be a replacement for the laptop and tablet.

Hybrid laptops are small, ultra thin, light weight and easy to carry everywhere. They run on Microsoft's touch based Windows 8 Operating System. They also feature powerful processors that enable them to work much faster and also are able to run Computer Applications.

Laplets/hybrid laptops can be in various forms. There are convertibles, detachables and tablets with keyboards. The convertibles are mostly laptops that have a 360` rotating screens that can be rotated to be used as a laptop. The Lenovo Ideapad Yoga is an example.

Also there are the detachable s. They are made to look like the normal laptop but their screens can be taken out from the keyboard. When you want to use them as a tablet, simply detach the screen from the keyboard dock and you have a tablet in hand. They are much simpler and portable. Acer Iconia series, rLG uhuru and Asus Transformer series all fall under this category.

The more stubborn ones are made as tablets that functions like the laptop and to which you can attach a keyboard to look fully like the laptop. They are laptops in tablet clothing. Microsoft's Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3 are what I'm talking about.

Sony, Dell, Lenovo, HP, Samsung, Sony and others have all started producing these categories of laptops, hoping to re-invent the future of the traditional laptop.
